Introducción
¿Cómo se forman las estrellas a partir del gas de las galaxias? ¿Cómo evolucionan las estrellas y las galaxias y cómo estos procesos pueden dar lugar a planetas y a las condiciones adecuadas para la vida? ¿Cómo recopilamos y desciframos información sobre el Universo desde nuestro pequeño rincón del cosmos?
Este curso cubre el sistema solar y los movimientos celestes, el ciclo de vida de las estrellas, la estructura de nuestra Vía Láctea y el descubrimiento de exoplanetas: planetas que orbitan estrellas más allá de nuestro Sol. Diseñado para ser accesible a estudiantes que no se especializan en ciencias, el material se explora cuantitativamente con conjuntos de problemas que utilizan álgebra básica y estimaciones numéricas. La observación del cielo y las excursiones a los observatorios complementan el trabajo del curso.
