This programme connects fundamental research with its applications and integrates genetics, gene technology, cell biology, molecular biology and molecular biotechnology. The common basis is within molecular genetics, which is the discipline that explains how the information in the genes is expressed and how it can give rise to various traits in an organism. Emphasis is put on genetic mechanisms underlying disease, genetic mapping, molecular genetic techniques and diagnostic methods. Training in entrepreneurship and processes of innovation and commercialisation in the molecular biotechnology field provides a fundamental base for careers in biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry. A majority of the graduated students continue with PhD studies, often within the biomedical research field.

This is an academic programme designed for students with a strong interest in mathematics, mathematical statistics and scientific computing. Flexibility and individual adaptation are keywords. A vast variety of courses in mathematics, statistics and numerical analysis are available within the programme and can be combined with courses from all other science areas, economics and finance, engineering, humanities and social sciences available at our university or within an exchange programme with other universities. For students with a strong interest in pure mathematics, the programme offers a path of courses at a higher theoretical level that can be continued at Master’s and even further at PhD level. For those students interested in more applied areas, there is a high degree of flexibility in choosing course combinations suitable for certain professions.

The purpose of the programme is to give you broad and fundamental knowledge in the fields of physical and theoretical chemistry and chemical physics. Students develop advanced laboratory skills, a profound theoretical comprehension of fundamental mechanisms and a good understanding of practical applications. Special emphasis is given to an unbroken line of understanding, from quantum mechanical description of atoms and molecules to complex supramolecular structures, as well as their industrial and biological applications.

Our world is facing many challenges, both in basic science when exploring fundamental forces and particles or the origin of the universe, planets and life, and in applied science to find sustainable energy sources, new technology on the nano-scale and tailor-made materials for industry, chemistry and medicine. Physics is the basis for this endeavour and physicists play an important role in these and many other fields. As a physicist, you will have a broad education and a wide range of tools for problem solving, tools which you can apply in almost any situation. These tools include mathematical and programming skills. We offer the whole three-year Bachelor's programme in English, and since all of the courses at an advanced level are given in English, you are free to choose from a wide variety of courses.

Our goal is to give students leading competences in biomedical research so that they are well prepared for independent work in medical research and development. The programme leads to a Master of Medical Science, with a major in Biomedicine. Teaching takes place in a research environment at the Biomedical Research Centre in Lund and all teachers are also active researchers.

This is an internet-based distance learning programme in which you learn how to analyse and model spatial phenomena, focusing on natural resources, using GIS (Geographical Information Systems) and remote sensing and environmental modelling. You can adopt the learning methods that work best for you and choose your own pace of study for any given semester. The programme offers hands-on training using up-to-date software and affords the opportunity to achieve deep theoretical understanding, as well as excellent technical skills, of e.g. spatial programming, SDI, database management, cartography and environmental modelling. The programme is taught by world-class faculties in Sweden (Lund University) and the Netherlands (University of Twente).

You will obtain knowledge of various ecosystems, climate and climate change, land forming processes and land use. You learn useful tools such as GIS, remote sensing and digital mapping for analyzing and presenting data. You also gain the perspective of human activities, exploitation of natural resources and development. You will study in an international environment and learn both theory and practice through field excursions, group work and computer labs. Our staff has extensive experience working in different environments, from the cold Arctic to North African deserts and tropical forests in Central Africa and South America.

This program focuses on the sustainable rock value chain and covers how to find, mine, extract and recycle metal and minerals as well as environmental, social and economic aspects. The education is based on project-oriented learning in collaboration with companies in the sector.
